District expected to adopt budget
The Huntington Beach Union High School District plans to adopt its new budget tonight at 7:15 p.m. at a meeting at the district office, 5832 Bolsa Ave., Huntington Beach.
The board will hold a public hearing on the 2009-10 district budget before its approval. It also will hold a public hearing before approving the re-appropriation of categorical funds, which normally are used for specific programs, for “any educational purpose†in order to bankroll the district’s proposed budget.
Among the items on the consent calendar, the board will decide whether to approve Edison High School’s attempt to apply for a grant for more than $5.2 million to fully fund a proposed aquatics complex at the school.
Edison would apply to both the Henry T. Nicholas, III Foundation and the Frank M. Doyle Foundation in order to construct a 50-meter pool, a Special Abilities Cluster program and local community programs.
