Four decades.

That’s how long Donn Hall served the public.

Former mayor. City Councilman. Planning commissioner.

It’s difficult, if not impossible, to gauge his influence on Costa Mesa. But it goes without saying he left an impact.

Most notable of his attributes, though, was his advocacy for the little guy.

We certainly can relate. It’s a newspaper’s job to champion the rights of the average person and to keep an eye on the powers-that-be.

With Donn Hall we had a willing and eager partner.

It’s sad that he’s no longer around to personally make sure John and Jane Citizen get a fair shake, but it’s inspiring to know his legacy of doing just that will endure.
