New senior board needs community members

A new committee formed by the Costa Mesa City Council to consider expanding the programs and services at the Senior Center is looking to fill the three spots reserved for community members on the task force.

Hoping to examine the city’s relationship with the center and decide whether the city should invest more money into its operation, Councilman Gary Monahan suggested the formation of the committee.

It was approved unanimously at Tuesday’s council meeting and so far is set to include two representatives from the City Council and two from the board of the Senior Corporation along with three “at large†representatives from the community.

The three at-large representatives will include one from the Chamber of Commerce, one Senior Center volunteer and one Costa Mesa resident with no necessary affiliation.

Submissions must be made before 5 p.m. Jan. 27. Prospective applicants can pick up the necessary forms from the city manager’s office or from www.ci.costa-mesa.ca.us. Completed forms can either be mailed to P.O. Box 1200, Costa Mesa, 92628 or hand-delivered to the city manager’s office at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.
