Turtle Bay Invitational

KAHUKU, Hawaii — UC Irvine is tied for fifth place after Tuesday’s second round at the Turtle Bay Resort Golf Club.

San Diego State and UNLV lead the 19-team tournament with 36-hole totals of eight-under-par 568. UCI and New Mexico State are tied for fifth, seven shots back at one-under 575.

Thomas Kua of Hawaii and Johan Carlsson from San Diego State are tied for the individual lead with seven-under totals of 137.

UCI senior Sean Shahi shot a three-under 69 Tuesday and is in sixth place at five-under 139.

Max Greil (72) and John Chin (76) are tied for 37th at 146, while Cean Hayashi Geronimo (74) is in 46th place at 147.

Michael Im was disqualified in the second round.

The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes today.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Cal Baptist def. Vanguard

COSTA MESA — Junior outside hitter Heather DeJongh finished with 12 kills and 11 digs for the No. 17-ranked Lions, but No. 7 Cal Baptist won the Golden State Athletic Conference match, 25-22, 19-25, 25-1, 25-19, Tuesday night.

Jamie Heenan contributed 10 kills for Vanguard (15-9, 10-9 in conference).

SANTA BARBARA — Lauren Gregory scored 22 points for the Lions, who nearly won the exhibition game Tuesday night.

Vanguard missed two potential game-winning three pointers in the final five seconds of regulation. Rachel Copeland scored 19 points, hitting five of her 14 three-point shot attempts, while Diana Neves came off the bench to score 18 points for the Lions.

Jenna Green led the Gauchos with 18 points and Lauren Pederson added 17.
