WWII veteran to discuss the Medal of Honor
Local historian and World War II pilot George Grupe will give a presentation on the Medal of Honor on Sunday at the Costa Mesa Historical Society in honor of Veterans Day.
The Medal of Honor is the highest military distinction given in the United States. Most recipients die while performing the act of bravery for which they are rewarded.
Grupe’s talk will focus on Orange County recipients of the Medal of Honor.
It starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Historical Society building, 1870 Anaheim Ave., next to the main library.
Grupe frequently speaks about military history in and around the Newport-Mesa area.
