Artist, author given Mayor’s Choice Award
Costa Mesa Mayor Eric Bever presented artist Rusty Sherrill with the second Mayor’s Choice Award.
Three of his somber depictions of young women, titled “Dear God,” “Little Robot Girl” and “Please God,” are displayed in the mayor’s office at City Hall.
The award recognizes local artists who participate in Artists’ Showcase events sponsored by the Costa Mesa Cultural Arts Committee.
Aside from being an artist, Sherrill is also an author. He recently published a young adult science fiction novel called “Kid Nitro and the Sinister Slorp.”
Sherrill will be honored at an upcoming City Council meeting.
