Hawaiian-themed food, games set for annual luau
The Mesa Del Mar neighborhood will hold its annual luau Sunday at TeWinkle Park, where up to 400 are expected.
The party will be catered with Hawaiian-themed food, and a vintage golf cart will be raffled off. A game of washers, a variant of horseshoes where players throw small metal discs into a cup, is being set up by a group of community dads, according to Homeowners’ Assn. President Lisa Reedy.
“It’s like a secret society. They’re often getting together and playing washers on the weekends,†Reedy said.
The city’s mobile recreation vehicle will bring kids’ games.
The luau starts at noon and will continue until 4 p.m. on the field next to the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
