Corona del Mar basketball loses point guard Ragsdale
Clayton Ragsdale, a 5-foot-11 point guard who was a part-time starter for the Corona del Mar High boys’ basketball team last season as a freshman, has moved and will attend Brea Olinda High in the fall, CdM Coach Ryan Schachter said.
Ragsdale averaged 5.7 points, 3.4 assists and 1.3 rebounds for the Sea Kings, who finished 21-8 and were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division III-A playoffs.
Ragsdale, who received honorable mention in All-Pacific Coast League voting, made 31 three-pointers, one behind team leader Joe Eberhard.
Eberhard, who had planned on walking on at UC Irvine, will instead sit out next season while attending San Diego Mesa Community College, Schachter said.
Schachter said Eberhard, a first-team All-PCL and second-team Division III-A performer last season when he averaged 15.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals as a senior, did not qualify academically at UCI.
