YOUTH SCENE:
The South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch 12-and-under Silver All-Star team brought home the Oceanside Tournament by winning all six of its games last weekend.
The Fury capped its title run Sunday with a 13-1 rout of Rancho Trabuco in the championship game.
The strong pitching of Kerry Doran and Kelli Tatum, combined with a solid effort from catcher Jamie Cortez, led the defense.
Offensively, South Huntington Beach’s balanced lineup produced 56 runs in six games, while opponents scored just seven.
In pool play, the Fury romped past Oceanside (15-3), Rancho Bernardo Bronze (12-0) and Rancho Bernardo Silver (3-2). In Silver Bracket action, it again defeated Rancho Bernardo Bronze (3-2) and then shut out Rancho Bernardo Silver (8-0) to advance to the title game.

Red Sox 13, Yankees 3: The Red Sox overcame an early 2-0 deficit and turned things around by scoring eight times in the fourth inning en route to knocking off the Yankees.
Kyle Crossen had given the Yankees the early lead by hitting a two-run home run in the top of the first. But the Red Sox answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and scored twice more in the third before taking control with an eight-run fourth inning.
Blake Diamond drove in four runs for the Red Sox. Garrett Garcia and Dawson Hoppes both had two RBIs, and Nick Krakower also had an RBI.
In prior action, the Yankees had defeated the Diamondbacks, 14-3.
