Grand marshal selected for Fourth of July Parade

Huntington Beach’s oldest residing former City Council member has been selected as community grand marshal of the annual Fourth of July Parade, according to a news release.

The parade’s executive board has chosen Noble Waite, who served on the council from 1958 to 1962, to serve as the face of the parade. Waite, who was born in 1924, settled in Huntington Beach in 1949 with his family after flying bombers in World War II and became a successful pharmacist owning multiple drugstores.

Waite will ride alongside his son-in-law Dr. Don Elshire, a Navy surgeon who has returned from a second tour in Iraq.
