Monument donation deadline is Monday
The deadline for donations for the McFadden Square Centennial Legacy Project is Monday. Construction on the centennial monument at McFadden Square at the base on Newport Pier is nearing completion.
Donors will have their names engraved on granite benches or a walkway surrounding the monument. Opportunities begin at $250 and are available to individuals, businesses and local organizations. Organizers must soon submit a list of names for engraving.
Interested parties must fill out an application and submit it with their donation, to the cultural arts services office inside the Newport Beach Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave., before 5 p.m. Monday. Applications are available at www.city.newport-beach.ca.us/, at the library and Newport Beach City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd.
A bronze sculpture will serve as the focal point for the project, which will be surrounded by granite benches a spherical walking path tracing the significant historical events from the past 100 years. More than 600 donors have contributed so far. Call (949) 717-3870 for more information.
