Laguna Beach to celebrate former CIF champions

A celebration for the 25th anniversary of the Laguna Beach High boys’ volleyball CIF Southern Section Division 4A championship team will take place during the school’s annual alumni match tonight at 6 at Dugger Gym.

The event, put on by the Laguna Beach Volleyball Boosters, will offer many auction items, including a two-year, pre-paid lease on a 2008 McKenna car, original artwork, as well as concert and sporting event tickets.

This will be the final match of the regular season for the Breakers (17-7), the Orange Coast League champions. Last week, they secured a spot in the CIF playoffs for the 35th consecutive year after they dominated Costa Mesa and Estancia in the last two matches of Orange Coast League play.

Playoff pairings will be announced Monday.
