Rosco and Buddy are 7-month-old purebred Maine Coon kittens, but unfortunately have a medical condition that most likely would not be recognized when purchased from a breeder.

The condition is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and is common for the breed, according to a veterinarian.

Buddy, right, has a mild case of HCM. Rosco, left, has a moderate case. The two best friends are very calm and like being held, caregiver Peggy Hamilton said.
