Son of local official arrested
Costa Mesa police arrested one of Councilwoman Linda Dixon’s sons Monday night after an argument with his father turned physical, police said Tuesday.
Andrew Michael Dixon, 30, was arrested just after 7 p.m. Monday at his parent’s home in the 200 block of Princeton Drive, about half an hour after police were called about a family disturbance there.
Andrew Dixon pushed his father, Michael, during an argument, Sgt. Bryan Glass said. Adam Dixon, the family’s youngest son, was the only other person there, police said.
Andrew Dixon is in custody at Orange County Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor assault and battery.
The Dixons rent out a home adjacent to theirs to their daughter, neighbors said.
A man living with Linda Dixon’s daughter said he did not hear anything around the time police were called. Other neighbors said they also did not hear anything.
Andrew Dixon was convicted of DUIs in 2000 in Orange County and 2006 in San Bernardino county, records show. Andrew Dixon faces charges for a third DUI stemming from a July crash in which he had a blood alcohol level of .17, exceeding the legal limit of .08, and drove into a guard rail on the 405 Freeway, then walked away from the scene and resisted police when they tried to arrest him, prosecutors allege.
Linda Dixon declined to comment at Tuesday’s council meeting. When asked about Monday night’s incident, Michael Dixon said, “I don’t think we want to talk about that.”
Dixon’s term as a city councilwoman ends this year, and she has not yet filed for reelection.
