HUNTINGTON BEACH — Elizabeth Eddy and Lauren Devoy helped the Sailors remain unbeaten in Sunset League play as each scored one goal Tuesday night.

Goalie Stephanie Castor recorded three saves.

Next for Newport Harbor (6-3-6, 1-0-1 in league) is a home league match against Fountain Valley on Thursday at 5 p.m.

CYPRESS — Jackie Dion and Jordan Team each scored for the Lightning in the Academy League match Tuesday.

Sage Hill (5-7-1, 2-0 in league) will play at Brethren Christian Friday at 3:15 p.m.

CYPRESS — Lightning senior Jamie McGee poured in a game-high 24 points, helping Sage get its first league win of the year at Oxford Academy on Tuesday.

Senior Preston Oklejas added eight points for Sage Hill (5-12, 1-1), which plays at Brethren Christian on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

IRVINE — The Sea Kings battled back from a 22-0 deficit to win their Pacific Coast League opener on Tuesday at Beckman.

Senior Kevin Lineback’s pin at 215 pounds put CdM up, 31-30, then senior Max Prescott finished off the dual meet with the pin at heavyweight. Also earning a pin was senior Scott Feeley at 135s and Cole Shepard (130s), Taylor Fanning (140s), Scott Eskew (145s), Charlie McAulliffe (152s) and Andrew Halladay (171s) also won for the Sea Kings.

Shepard is a perfect 8-0 at 130s.

CdM (7-11, 1-0 in league) plays host to Laguna Hills on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

 

Los Alamitos 43,

Newport Harbor 17

NEWPORT BEACH — Sailors senior Josh George improved to 26-0 in the Sailors’ Sunset League loss Tuesday at Newport Harbor High.

George, at 145 pounds, beat Los Al’s Josh Jones by technical fall, 17-2. Sophomore Max Jolliffe won by pin over the Griffins’ Gary Howe at 103s, and at 125s Newport Harbor junior Eddie Garcia topped Los Al’s Brian Abrishami, 7-6, to improve to 14-6 on the season.

Junior heavyweight Cameron Rausch won in overtime over Spencer Smith, 4-3, to improve to 21-6 for Newport Harbor.
