Open Gatherings tonight at Fellowship
Open Gatherings, an informal lecture followed by free-form intellectual discussion, returns today at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 429 Cypress Drive, Laguna Beach.
The topic: “Is God necessary for immortality”¦.and do we care?”
“Many people bank on faith in God as a failsafe for eternal life,” said the Rev. Dr. Tari Lennon, discussion leader. “But is it rational for educated adults to adhere to a religion as a ticket to heaven?”
Attendees at Open Gatherings are invited to participate after Lennon’s brief opening lecture.
Open Gatherings is an informal, occasional “un-church” that draws people from all faiths and non-faiths to explore topics of spirituality, politics, relationships, and personal ethics.
At Open Gatherings, no topic is off-limits. It serves no doctrine or ideology.
Admission is free; donations are welcome. For more information about any Open Gatherings event, call (949) 370-7040 or visit www.opengatherings.com.
