FOUNTAIN VALLEY – Ashley Peters earned medalist honors with a five-over-par 36 for the Eagles in their Golden West League opener at David L. Baker Memorial Golf Course.

Taylor West shot 37, Kim Haycraft 39 for Estancia (4-0). Nushin Tasbhichi (41) and Jackie Crosson (45) also contributed for the Eagles, who play against Ocean View at Costa Mesa Country Club Thursday.

IRVINE — Kelsey Venditozzi had the Lightning’s low score with a 13-over-par 49 and her sister Kimberly Venditozzi had her best round at 53 in the nonleague match at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course Tuesday.

Amy Babbush shot a 54, followed by Sara Anderson at 62 and Sara White at 63 for Sage Hill (1-3).

Mater Dei’s Monica Villarreal was the medalist with a 39.

Cluster Meet

DANA POINT – The Sage Hill School boys’ and girls’ teams came out on top over Whitney, St. Margaret’s, Oxford Academy, Brethren Christian and Capistrano Valley Christian at Salt Creek State Park Tuesday.

Lion Wintemute, Sean McElroy and Connor Rose finished 1-2-3 in 18 minutes, 1 second to help lead the Lightning to a first-place finish with 18 points. Kyle Simon (fifth in 18:36) and Alex Jimenez (seventh in 18:50).

On the girls’ side, Cait Williamson came in first at 19:38, as Sage Hill topped St. Margaret’s, 33-38. Katie McKeon came in fifth in 22:15 and Jackie Dion followed in sixth at 22:30. Megan Culberson was also in the top 10 at ninth in 23:33 and Iral Brito was 12th in 24:03.

Costa Mesa 24, Saddleback 11

SANTA ANA — Mustangs senior Skyler Twohig scored seven goals as Costa Mesa eased to a nonleague win Tuesday at Saddleback High.

Sam Edman scored six goals for the Mustangs (4-3), who stormed to a 12-3 halftime lead, and Cody Serrano added five. Costa Mesa plays host to Troy on Thursday.

NEWPORT BEACH — Megan Munce had eight kills, seven digs and three services aces, helping the Sailors to a 25-15, 27-25, 25-19 nonleague victory Tuesday.

Alex Penewell added six kills and four blocks and Arielle Lysacek had 17 assists and two digs for Newport Harbor (6-1).

Newport Harbor’s Katie Lawler she had four kills and three aces.

Costa Mesa def. Loara

COSTA MESA — Whitney Crosby finished with 11 kills and Kim Bjelland added 15 assists and four service aces in the Mustangs’ 25-15, 25-21, 30-28 nonleague victory Tuesday, their first of the year.

Costa Mesa (1-5), which finished with 16 service aces, will play at Saddleback on Thursday at 5 p.m.

NEWPORT COAST – Katherine Bukaty finished with 10 kills and one block, but the Lightning were swept in the nonleague match Tuesday.

Sage (1-4) plays at Northwood on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Glendora 1

GLENDORA — Senior Samantha Hill scored in the 15th minute for the Sailors in their nonleague game on the road Tuesday.

Jessie Bass made nine saves for Newport Harbor (6-1-2), and Coach Devon Kelly said midfielders Claire Josephson and Natalie Mitchell both played well. The Sailors play host to Huntington Beach on Thursday at Harper Field.

Los Alamitos 10,

Sage Hill School 8

SEAL BEACH — Julia Blakeley improved to 12-0 in No. 1 singles play, but the Lightning lost Tuesday to the one of top Division I teams in Orange County.

Jaclyn Smrecek, the No. 2 singles player, won twice for Sage Hill, which fell to 4-2. Los Alamitos improved to 4-2.
