Guistina Memorial Classic
CORVALLIS, Ore. — UC Irvine, playing in its season-opening tournament, tied for third Tuesday at Trysting Tree Golf Club.
Anteaters sophomore John Chin finished fourth (eight-under-par 208 over 54 holes) and Tim Cha shot 215 to finish 14th.
Junior Sean Shahi and freshman Bryan Harris shot 217 to tie for 20th, while senior Derek Uyesaka finished 43rd with 227.
UCI’s team score of 853 was matched by Oregon and Portland. Oregon State won the event (843), followed by Fresno State (851). In the unique format that featured the men’s and women’s teams from each school competing together, UCI finished fifth with a total of 1,776. Oregon State won the combined title (1,743).

CORVALLIS, Ore. — The UC Irvine women’s team finished tied for seventh in the event, completed Tuesday at Trysting Tree Golf Club.
UCI senior Kim Lorenzana finished 12th with a 54-hold total of 227, while sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha was 16th ( 229). Senior Selaneé Henderson was 29th (234) and freshman Sarah Fox was 35th (243).
Sophomore Mariko Makabe, who shot a 149 in the first two rounds Monday, withdrew from competition Tuesday due to a shoulder injury.

COSTA MESA — Jordan Joseph and Eddie Flores scored a goal each for the Pirates in their nonconference game Tuesday.
