Girl Scouts honored for community service
Three Costa Mesa Girl Scouts were honored for their efforts in community service Sunday afternoon. Each received the Girl Scouts Silver Award, the second highest level of achievement for scouts, at a ceremony in the Mesa Verde United Methodist Church.
Out of hundreds of Girl Scouts in the Newport-Mesa area only a few complete the requirements to earn the awards each year. The Silver Award recognizes a wide range of experiences and the scout’s commitment to bettering the lives of others as well as their own life, event organizers said.
This year, Andrea Chavez, Miranda Schrader, and Ariana Dispalatro each completed projects.
