Nonprofit drive collects school supplies for 1,500

Share Our Selves is accepting donations of school supplies to be given out to Costa Mesa students of low-income families Aug. 25.

More than 1,500 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given to the children as part of the nonprofit’s 12th annual Back to School Day drive.

Donations can be dropped off at Share Our Selves, 1550 Superior Ave., Costa Mesa, until Aug. 24. Or donations can be made until Aug. 14 at three local Staples office supply stores at 4343 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach, 3861 S. Bristol St., Santa Ana, and 241 E. 17th St., Costa Mesa. Share Our Selves representatives will be available at Staples to help donors between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 13 to 14.

Backpacks are particularly in demand, said Teri Williams of Share Our Selves.
