Costa Mesa welcomes veteran’s memorial
Assemblyman Van Tran helped pave the way for a new veteran’s memorial Sunday in at the Harbor Lawn Ceremony in Costa Mesa. Tran delivered the keynote address to the crowd gathered near the memorial.
“This is a tremendous statement of appreciation of our veterans,†Mayor Allan Mansoor said. “This is something Costa Mesa can really be proud of.â€
Tran expressed similar satisfaction with the morning’s event and added that the morning held personal significance for him.
“Have been born and fled from a war-torn country in search of freedom, not a day goes by that I don’t remember that freedom,†Tran said.
The assemblyman laid two bricks as part of the ceremony, one to honor his uncle, a general for the Republic of Southern Vietnam Army, and one for Vietnam War Army veteran Ronnie Guyer.
Bricks are available to purchase through the Costa Mesa Community Foundation www.cm-fund.org.
