Building company hires VP of business development
McCarthy Building Companies, a Missouri-based construction firm with an office in Newport Beach, has appointed Bruce Nelson to serve as vice president of business development for its Southern California Division.
A 27-year veteran of the construction industry, Nelson will focus on creating healthcare facilities in his position with McCarthy. The 143-year-old company, which is Orange County’s largest commercial builder, recently oversaw the Measure A bond that renovated campuses in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.
Nelson, a former sergeant in the United States Air Force, has worked on healthcare projects with Kaiser Permanente, Eisenhower Medical Center and Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
“Bruce possesses a wide variety of industry expertise in construction roles offering valuable insight from both contractors’ and owners’ perspectives,†said Steven Mynsberge, McCarthy’s senior vice president of healthcare, in a news release.
Newport Chamber plans lunch meet-up at Dunes
The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a networking lunch Wednesday in which business owners may promote their services to others in the community.
The lunch is set to take place from noon to 2 p.m. at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, at 1131 Back Bay Drive in Newport Beach. Admission is $20 for members with reservations, $27 for members at the door and $30 for non-members. Those who reserve in advance can set up a display for their business with a table sign.
