Teen suspected of threatening parents
A 15-year-old was arrested in Costa Mesa after he allegedly barricaded his parents in their bedroom and threatened them, police said.
At 6:50 p.m. Sunday, the teen’s stepfather called Costa Mesa police from inside a room in the 1900 block of Pomona Avenue and told dispatchers that his stepson was stabbing the knife through the door, police said.
Officers made their way into the Westside home and arrested the teen for a parole violation, Lt. Loren Wyrick said. He was booked at the Orange County Juvenile Hall in Orange.
Police have not determined whether he was threatening the lives of his mother and stepfather with the knife or just using it to destroy their belongings inside the house, Wyrick said.
