10-and-under water polo takes bronze
Laguna Beach Water Polo age group’s 10-and-under coed squad won four matches last weekend to earn a bronze medal finish at the Southern Pacific Regional Junior Olympics Tournament in Irvine.
Laguna dropped its opening match to Socal (11-3) but won three-straight to claim bronze.
Laguna 16, Chino Hills 3Sandonica Rodriguez scored three goals in the opening quarter to send Laguna on its way to an easy win.
Jeff Rubino scored two goals, one off an assist from Henry White, and Cade Baldridge also tipped the net twice, as Laguna Beach opened up a commanding, 7-0 lead after the first quarter.
Connor Hauer continued the onslaught with three goals in the second quarter.
Aki Andersen and Nolan del Toro also had multiple goals with two apiece.
Laguna 9, Irvine 7
Jeff Rubino had two goals and Sandonica Rodriguez, Aki Andersen and Summer Stanaland also got into the scoring act as Laguna edged the host team.
Laguna 14, Riverside 2Jeffrey Rubino netted five goals in the opening half, Anabella Baldridge scored twice in the third quarter and Cade Baldridge and Reid Degroote also scored as Laguna cruised past the Tidal Waves.
Laguna 10, Huntington Beach 7
In the bronze medal match, Sandonica Rodriguez scored five goals and Aki Andersen scored twice to help power Laguna past their beach rival to the north.
