Stalking, assault charges filed against H.B. woman

Prosecutors have filed assault and stalking charges against a Huntington Beach woman recently named in a restraining order filed by actor Sandra Bullock and her husband Jesse James.

Marcia Diane Valentine, 56, was charged May 16 with one count of assault and one count of stalking stemming what prosecutors allege were months of harassment of Bullock and James at their home in Sunset Beach.

Valentine, who is free on $25,000 bail, appeared in Orange County Superior Court on Tuesday, but did not enter a plea to the charges. Her arraignment was continued to June 12.

Prosecutors allege Valentine was near James’ and Bullock’s home for “several” months, leaving items at the residence and lying in the driveway.

When James responded by going outside on April 22, Valentine allegedly yelled at him and reversed her silver Mercedes Benz in an attempt to run over him, prosecutors said. Valentine was arrested the following day while driving in the area by Orange County sheriff’s deputies.

If convicted, Valentine faces a maximum four years and eight months in prison.
