The Black Attack, a 10-and-under team, assuredly earned its Pacific Coast Girls Fastpitch Softball championship.

The squad lost in the first round of the playoffs, but won five straight games in as many days to win the title on May 12. The girls from the Black Attack had to pull off two wins over White Dynamite, the regular-season champion that entered May 12 unbeaten, to earn the title. Black Attack, which was coached by Ken Gerdau and Dave Burger, won, 5-1, then 7-5.

In the second victory, the Black Attack scored three runs in the sixth to overcome a one-run deficit.
