College football coach and ESPN analyst Lou Holtz, whose wife is a 10-year throat cancer survivor, will be the featured speaker at The Circle 1000 Founders’ Brunch from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Marriott Newport Beach Hotel and Spa, 900 Newport Center Drive. TILL AUGUST 12ART EXHIBIT

The first major retrospective of abstract artist Mary Heilmann will be on display at the Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Drive, Newport Beach. An opening reception will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday; admission is $10; members get in free. The exhibit features 65 of Heilmann’s paintings, and images of her work accompanied by selections of her favorite music. WEDNESDAYGATHERING OF FRIENDS GALA
