Sandra Bullock wins restraining order

Actress Sandra Bullock appeared in Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana Friday to obtain a three-year restraining order against a Huntington Beach woman accused of harassing her and her family.

The restraining order requires Marcia Diana Valentine, 45, to stay 500 yards away from Bullock, her three step-sons, and her husband Jesse G. James at their home, their jobs, their children’s school or child care and movies or sets where the couple may work and hotels where the family might stay.

Valentine was arrested April 23 on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon the day after she allegedly tried to run over James with her Mercedes Benz four times in front of the couple’s home in Sunset Beach. James, star of “Monster Garage” and chief executive of West Coast Choppers, was not hurt.

Valentine is free on $20,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear May 22 to enter a plea to the assault charges.

The restraining order also prohibits Valentine from owning, possessing, buying or selling a gun. Moreover, it bars her from harassing or contacting Bullock and her family in any way. The family is allowed to video and audio tape any prohibited communications should they occur.

Valentine is simply an “obsessed fan,” her actions, “bizarre,” and if she violates that restraining order she’ll be arrested, Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said. “They definitely did the right thing by obtaining a restraining order because now we have legal grounds if she goes anywhere near them.”

If Valentine violates the restraining order she can be arrested again.

“She could go to jail and pay a fine up to $1,000,” said Carole Levitzky, court spokeswoman.
