Early start gets A’s past Dodgers
The A’s scored all the runs they’d need in the first inning of their Majors Division game against the Dodgers and went on to claim a 5-0 victory at Ocean View Little League.
The A’s scored their five runs on six hits in their first at-bat Saturday. Throughout the game, pitchers Max Gibbs and Grant Mayeaux each allowed just one hit to shut down the Dodgers.
Offensively for the A’s, Brandon Macedo had two hits and Gibbs, Mayeaux, Evan Corey, Spencer Tyra, Kevin Engesser and Joseph Ratzlaff had hits.
Getting hits for the Dodgers were Arnold Zinovyer and Jake Arledge.
The Dodgers were denied a scoring opportunity in the top of the sixth when with two out and a runner at first, Arledge lined a double to right-center field. A’s centerfielder Tyler Hammock relayed a throw to Engesser at shortstop who in turn threw to Ratzlaff at the plate to get the runner for the final out of the game and preserve the shutout.
