Cause of four-car crash is being investigated
Six people, including a pregnant woman, were taken to area hospitals after a four-car crash Wednesday in Newport Beach, police said.
The crash occurred at Superior and Placentia avenues when one vehicle rear-ended another, causing a chain reaction. The last car hit a pregnant woman walking in the crosswalk, police said.
The woman and three of the injured motorists were taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. The woman was treated as a precaution and released Wednesday afternoon.
Two motorists, including the first driver to crash, were taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Police have not determined if the man who first crashed was driving under the influencebut said the crash is under investigation.
