Corona del Mar 71, Irvine 29CORONA DEL MAR — In his return after sitting out the previous game because of receiving two technical fouls Friday, 6-foot-9 center Stefan Kaluz scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Sea Kings to the Pacific Coast League victory Wednesday.

Joe Eberhard finished with 10 points, six rebounds and two dazzling alley-oop lobs to guard Eddie Lane, who easily threw them down for CdM (13-7 overall, 2-1 league).

John Joyce added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Sea Kings, who will play host to University in a league game Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Coach Ryan Schachter said point guard Austin Evett might return after he injured his ankle last week.

Estancia 4, Laguna Beach 1LAGUNA BEACH — Midfielder Eric Duarte scored two of the Eagles’ four goals in the second half to lead Estancia to a big Orange Coast League win Wednesday night.

Duarte scored outside the 18 on a cross-goal upper 90-degree shot in the 67th minute for Estancia (6-3-5, 2-0) to tie the match, 1-1.

Estancia’s Edgar Rodriguez scored a goal and also assisted on Duarte’s second goal. Jorge Olivas added a goal as well.

The Eagles play host to Costa Mesa Friday at 3 p.m.

Irvine 1, Corona del Mar 0CORONA DEL MAR — The Sea Kings had their two-game Pacific Coast League winning streak snapped by Irvine Wednesday.

CdM is now 4-9-2, 2-1 in league.

Costa Mesa 3, Calvary Chapel 1SANTA ANA — The Mustangs notched their first Orange Coast League victory after taking a two-goal lead at halftime.

Abel Benitez, Steve Estrada and Luis Estrada each scored for Costa Mesa (3-7-2, 1-1 in league).

Newport Harbor 3, Marina 2NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors scored two goals in the final 15 minutes of the Sunset League game for the comeback victory Wednesday.

Ulises Vega put in the game winner from 20 yards out. Will Reichensten scored the equalizer with 15 minutes remaining. Will Trujillo headed in the Sailors’ first goal and was kicked in the head in the process.

Newport moved to 9-5-3, 3-1-1 in league.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Newport Harbor 10, Edison 4NEWPORT BEACH — Sailors senior Allyssa Peterson had three goals as the Sailors took sole possession of first place in the Sunset League on Thursday.

Mimi Bury, Jessica Robinson and Sarah Roberts added two goals each and combined for seven steals for Newport (10-5, 3-0 in league).
