Newport Lifeguards to host blood drive
The annual Newport Beach Lifeguards’ American Red Cross Blood
Drive is set for Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at lifeguard headquarters
at the base of the Newport Pier.
Newport Lifeguards will compete with other Southern California
agencies, a competition they have won four times in the last five
years. This year, they have openings for 150 donors over the six-hour
window.
Those interested in donating blood can contact the Newport Beach
Fire Department front desk at (949) 644-3047 or online at
www.givelife.org, sponsor code: nblifeguards.
Donors should bring a picture identification.
Firm renews lease
on Newport offices
Law firm O’Melveny & Myers has renewed its lease of 65,000 square
feet of office space at a Newport Center office building, the Irvine
Co. has announced. The Irvine Co. owns and recently finished
refurbishing the building at 610 Newport Center Drive.
The Irvine Co. recently invested $45 million in upgrading its
office properties around the state.
McDonald House awards scholarships
The Ronald McDonald House Charities awarded 150 $1,000 college
scholarships to Latino high school students across Southern
California, including students from Costa Mesa, Sage Hill and Newport
Harbor High Schools.
The scholarships, which are part of the Hispanic American
Commitment to Educational Resources program in the Ronald McDonald
House Charities, are earned by meeting criteria, including grade
point average, letters of recommendation, financial need and
community involvement.
Local McDonald’s owner/operators conferred the awards Friday at
the 15th annual awards luncheon in Newport Beach.
