Furniture store

fills a campy niche

Camps and Cottages is a great cottage and rustic home furnishings

store. It’s filled with vintage and new bedding, furniture, pottery

and case goods. A lot of Laguna’s locals who have second homes in Sun

Valley, Idaho rely on Camps and Cottages to outfit their homes with

casual comfortable furnishings. The owner, Molly Hyde English,

started out with a popular shop in Berkeley before relocating to

Laguna about three years ago. English wrote an interior design coffee

table book called “Camps and Cottages†featuring the store’s design

theme. Customers can’t get enough of the Maine Cottage furniture

collection that’s available in 40 colors, the new Bauer Pottery, and

the fun linen line from Utility Canvas. The store is open from 11

a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 1231 N. Coast Highway.

The perfect costume any time

Despite its awkward location, Tippe Canoes has maintained 25

successful years in business offering great year-round costume

selection and fair prices.

“This is considered the dead end of town,†co-owner Chazz Wergeles

says. “And since people have to climb stairs to get here, we have to

give them a reason to climb those stairs.â€

It has a big theme party and Halloween costume selection. Plus

wigs, boas, glasses, jewelry, tuxedos, tux shirts, shoes, bow ties

and regular ties. Everything is either vintage, retro or fun and

funky. Fashions from the 1970s range from tie-dye shirts to bell

bottoms. They are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday

Zazu for the feminine side

Zazu The Boutique carries a mix of clothing and accessories for

women. It’s got Diesel, Seven jeans, Michael Stars T-shirts, jewelry,

Miss Sixty shoes, unique belts and tons of turquoise. It also carries

Gucci sunglasses priced a little bit lower than you’ll find

elsewhere. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. It’s

Yoga at a discount

If you’ve always wanted to try yoga, there’s a bargain going on at

Bikram Yoga. New students who are also Orange County residents can

take 10 consecutive classes for just $1 a day. Classes are offered at

7 and 9 a.m. and 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 and

10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 610 N. Coast Highway.

Laguna Print is a well run printing shop that offers a ton of

services. Like most printing shops it does printing and copying but

it also offers extras like pick up and delivery, quick turnaround on

orders and fair prices.

A list of its printing services include: one to three colors,

foil, embossing, full color, and it has top-of-the-line Heidelberg

press on the premises. Copying services include: black and white

copies in small and large volumes, color copies at 39 cents,

laminating, stapling, folding, cutting and binding. Blue print

services include: large vellums, cad plotting and large bond copies.

The place for casual attire

Soul to Sole is the perfect place to find casual shoes and

clothing. It has two locations in Laguna, one on Beach Street and

Forest Avenue that mostly caters to locals, and a larger store on

Coast Highway that’s popular with tourists. The two stores are packed

full of thongs, boots and heels, from Chinese Laundry, Rocket Dog,

Follow Me and Wild Diva. Casual clothing includes T-shirts, skirts,

pants and accessories. There’s always a 50% off sale on select shoes

in both stores, and select clothing reduced 50% off at Beach and
