Mike Ross of Newport Coast won Best of Show and the Best Modified

Car Award at the third annual Endless Summer Car Show and Elvis Fest

held at the Orange County Marketplace in August. Ross won a $300 cash

award and trophies, which he received from Elvis Presley tribute

artist Kirk Wall and marketplace president Jeff Teller ....Two Orange

Coast College students, Jonathan Najman and Margaret Sharpe of Costa

Mesa, were recently awarded $1,000 Coca-Cola scholarships for their

academic success during the 2001-02 academic year. Both recipients

also had to complete a minimum of 100 hours of community service

during the same year in order to qualify. The Coca-Cola Scholars

Foundation awards 400 scholarships annually to community college

students throughout the nation ....Cardiologist Cristina Rizza of

Corona del Mar recently joined Pacific Coast Cardiology, which has

doctors on staff at Hoag Hospital and Fountain Valley Medical Center.

Rizza will be responsible for providing general and interventional

cardiology and will specialize in procedures involving coronary as

well as periphery vessels. She has worked in private practice in

internal medicine in Fountain Valley and Newport Beach for the last

12 years Jonathan H. Ramsey, son of Randy E. Ramsey of Costa Mesa,

and Kenneth C. Nelson, son of Debra N. Boelkes of Newport Beach,

recently completed a U.S. Naval Academy weeklong summer seminar

program in Annapolis, Md. Both Ramsey and Nelson participated in a

regimen of academics, physical training, intramural sports, sailing

and seamanship, leadership training and other social activities

geared toward introducing them to the challenges and benefits of the

Naval Academy. Ramsey attends Palo Verde High School and Nelson

attends Woodbridge High School .... The Peterson Group, a

full-service marketing communications agency headquartered in Newport

Beach, announced the promotion of Matthew Stringfellow to project

manager in August. Stringfellow, who has worked as a project

assistant since he joined the agency in 2000, will now be responsible

for shepherding client programs and projects, including strategic

sales and marketing programs, sales proposals and printed collateral

materials from the conceptual stages through production and

implementation ....The Friends of Orange Coast College’s Library

announced the officers for the 2002-03 school year in August. The

officers include: Christine A. Edwards of Newport Beach, president;

Donna Shockley of Newport Beach, vice president; Idamae Keily of

Newport Beach, membership chair; Nancy Timmons of Costa Mesa,

treasurer; and Freddi Anderson of Laguna Hills, recording secretary.
