Eyeing a showdown with perennial rival Cypress on Friday, OCC

Coach Barbara Bond was determined not to let her Pirates have a

letdown against the Hawks, who entered with a 6-0 record.

“We talked all last week about taking one game at a time and

especially not looking past Santiago Canyon,� said Bond. “I think

part of that coming into the game was that they were ahead of us and

it is tough to look past a team that has a better record than you.�

The Pirates are now 6-0-0, 2-0-0 in the OEC. Santiago Canyon fell

to 6-1, 1-1.
