Be aware of the freeloader
Selling a property in Newport Beach? Think twice before you open
the door of your open house to just anyone.
At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, members were discussing real
estate signs when Councilman Steve Bromberg made a confession.
“My wife and I love to go to open houses. We’re not looking for a

DUCK ROUNDUP:
PART DEUX?
Just when you thought it was safe to open the newspaper, we could
be due for a duck redux. Just three weeks after Newport Beach
officials rounded up and deported about 60 ducks from the Grand
Canal, some others have heard the siren song of a certain Balboa
Island home. About 20 ducks have been congregating there in recent
days to enjoy the free food and water. And of course, they’ve left
behind a mess.
The solution: More of the same. City officials are considering
whether to once again swoop down, scoop ‘em up and send them to San
Bernardino County. That’s where most of the 60 original refugees are
said to still be squawking about, with only a few of their feathered
friends reported as AWOL.
