Lightning wins

Sage Hill High had a strong first half and held on to defeat

visiting Capistrano Valley Christian, 4-1, in an Academy League boys

soccer game Tuesday.

Julian Smith-Newman scored in the eighth minute to get things going

for the Lightning. A minute later, Cesar Arriaga found the net to give

Sage Hill a 2-0 lead. Chris Chiboucas added a goal in the 20th minute off

the rebound from his own penalty kick.

Sage Hill (7-4-1, 4-2-1 in league) took a 3-1 lead at halftime and

sealed the victory with a second-half goal from Arriaga, who was assisted

by Blake Johnson. Trever Granger made five saves to earn the win.

Capistrano Valley Christian falls to 1-5-1 in league.
