Boys basketball: CdM gets first PCL win
LAGUNA BEACH - The Corona del Mar High boys basketball team
outscored host Laguna Beach, 43-21, in the middle two quarters to key a
70-51 Pacific Coast League victory Friday.
“It was our best defensive effort of the year,†said CdM Coach Ryan
Curry, who credited an active zone and some full-court pressure to
helping energize his Sea Kings (5-18, 1-5 in league).
Kevin Mancillas (29 points) hit three of his seven three-pointers in
the third quarter, when Bret Matsen had 13 of his 24 points to help CdM
outscore the Artists, 24-10, to all but lock up the win.
Jay Northridge added 13 points for the winners.
