Girls soccer: Mesa battles

Kristen Bagwell scored in the 20th minute of the second half to

help Costa Mesa High earn a 1-1 tie with visiting Laguna Beach in a

Pacific Coast League girls soccer game Tuesday.

Bagwell found the net with a soft shot off a rebound.

“It was a nice composed play,� Mesa Coach Dan Johnston said. “She

basically passed it into the net.�

Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Gentling made six saves for the Mustangs (9-4-3,

2-1-2).

The Artists (4-6-5, 1-2-2) got on the scoreboard early in the second

half with a goal from Caitlin Ross one minute after the break. She scored

off a long throw-in. Shonna Cobb made six saves for Laguna Beach.
