Senior center and OCC hosting contest

The Costa Mesa Senior Center, in partnership with Orange Coast

College, is accepting mixed media entries from Orange County seniors 50

and older for the senior center’s fourth annual Orange County Arts

Showcase 2002.

This year’s theme is “A Tribute to Freedom,†with all entries being

displayed March 8 to 10 at the senior center, 1845 Park Ave., Costa Mesa.

The senior center will accept entries until Feb. 21.

A total of $5,700 in prize money will be awarded in categories such as

Best of Show, People’s Choice and three separate awards for first, second

and third place for novice, amateur and professional divisions.

All media will be considered except for CD-ROM, crafts and

installation works.

Proceeds from the benefit will support social services and programs at

the senior center and raise funds for construction of a new arts pavilion

on the OCC campus.

Exhibition hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 8 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

March 9 to 10.

An artists reception will kick off the weekend on Friday night and

Saturday activities will include a benefit awards reception, raffle and a

buffet from 6 to 10 p.m.
