College men’s basketball: Vanguard edges Christian Heritage, 80-79
EL CAJON - The Vanguard University men’s basketball team squeaked
past Golden State Athletic Conference host Christian Heritage, 80-79,
Tuesday.
The Lions (10-9, 6-4 in the GSAC) shot 59% (13 of 22) in the second
half to overcome a 43-40 halftime deficit. Vanguard’s frontcourt duo of
Damion Morbley and Shane McKim scored 19 points each, while Shawn Corkery
and Garid Beeler added an extra spark, coming off the bench to score 11
points apiece. Morbley grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and McKim brought
down 10 boards.
