Girls basketball: Sailors short from start, lose

LAGUNA HILLS - The Newport Harbor High girls basketball team is

still in search of its first Sea View League victory of the season after

a 49-23 loss at Laguna Hills Tuesday.

Newport freshman Vanessa Miller came off the bench to lead the Sailors

with nine points. The Hawks outscored Newport, 12-2, in the first quarter

and never looked back.

The Sailors (2-16, 0-3 in league) resume Sea View league action

Thursday at 7 p.m., hosting Woodbridge.
