Girls soccer: Lightning strikes Grizzlies, 4-1
NEWPORT COAST - Sophomore Megan Curry scored a hat trick, including
two goals in the second half, to lead the Sage Hill High girls soccer
team to a 4-1 Academy League victory over visiting Calvary Chapel of
Downey Tuesday.
Sage Hill freshman Amy Werblin also scored in the second half, with an
assist from freshman Desiree Carver-Thomas. Freshmen Jessica Torina and
Mackenzie O’Brien also had assists for the Lightning (5-4-1, 1-3 in
league).
Freshman Laura Gordon anchored the Sage Hill defense, recording nine
saves.
Coach Amy Peterson’s Lightning will return to league play Thursday at
3:15 p.m., visiting Oxford Academy in Cypress.
