UCI soccer players senior Saul Wolf, junior Brad Aspey, junior

Scott Bowman and senior Natalie Franklin were honored recently as Verizon

Academic All-District VIII student-athletes.

Competitors were required to have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA.

Wolf was the Big West Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year and

had 11 points on three goals and five assists. Bowman was second in

scoring on UCI’s squad with 16 points and was a first-team All-Big West

selection. Aspey had 10 points on four goals and two assists.

Franklin started in 16 of the women’s soccer team’s 17 games and

contributed two goals and four assists. She was also a second-team

All-Big West Conference selection in 2000 and 2001. Franklin, a social

science major, has been on the UCI dean’s list every quarter in her two

years at UCI.

Wolf, Bowman, Aspey and Franklin advance to the Verizon All-American

national ballot. The Academic All-American team will be announced Feb. 7.
