Softball: Vanguard shuts out Chapman

COSTA MESA - Vanguard University’s Alysia Atchley allowed just two

hits and struck out seven batters to lead the Lions’ softball team to a

5-0 nonconference victory over visiting Chapman.

Atchley pitched a full seven inning for her first win of the season.

Vanguard (1-1) opened with a two-run inning as Jill Jessen hit her

first of two doubles to bring in Andrea Saucedo who had singled to get

on. The Lions smacked for 10 hits on Chapman (1-1).
