South Coast Plaza will host one the world’s largest international

orchid shows today through Sunday. The Fascination of Orchids

International Show and Sale fills all three levels of the Carte &

Barrel/Macy’s Home wing at South Coast Plaza. “Pathway to Orchids†is the

theme, and it will feature more than 65 of the world’s renowned orchid

growers, as well as more than 100 orchid displays and exhibits. This is

the 21st anniversary for the show; it started as a small exhibit and grew

to be one of the largest in the world. With Valentine’s Day around the

corner, it’s also a great time to find a beautiful gift. There are more

than 30,000 orchids on display, and the grandest of all will be the

orchid artwork created by Don Davidson, a famous floral and parade

designer. Davidson has created a mammoth, 25-foot centerpiece featuring

two egrets resting among orchids in a three-dimensional reflection of

water elements. World-famous orchid experts will offer 15 informative

seminars for orchid enthusiasts. Admission and parking is free. The show

hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Show schedules and
