Hotshots shoot down Newport Mesa, 37-26
Crystal Perez poured in a game-high 19 points and Amanada Cecil
grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Fountain Valley Hotshots over Newport
Mesa, 37-26 in a National Junior Basketball girls’ Division I contest.
Perez also added three steals and 10 rebounds. Cecil scored six points
and fouled out in the final quarter, forcing the Hotshots to finish the
game with just five players.
The Hotshots improved to 5-3 in division play.
In Division II girls’ play the Electricity improved to 8-0 after
topping the Snappers, 32-23.
The Electricity lead by just one at the half, but broke away in the
third quarter outscoring the Snappers, 10-0.
Eileen Flanagan and Lauren Kaprielian each scored eight points to lead
the Electricity offense. Jamie Bee, Nicole Kaprielian and Danielle
Teitlebaum turned in solid efforts on defense.
Kelsey Hwang and Lindy Shields each scored six points to lead the
Snappers.
