The Orange County Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Assn. named David

Grosse of Huntington Beach as head of its Executive Committee for the

2001-03 term . . . Huntington Beach resident Sierra Mowll received an

honorable mention in the 2001 Music Center Spotlight Awards for

photography competition . . . Marine Corps Reserve Pfc. Ian J. Moloney

completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.

Moloney completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine

recruits both physically and mentally. He is the son of Gayle L. Moloney

of Huntington Beach . . . Army Reserve Pvt. Amanda B. Garcia of

Huntington Beach graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard

Wood in Waynesville, Mo. During the training, she received instruction in

drill and ceremonies, weapons, tactics, physical fitness and first aid.

She is the daughter of Patricia M. Garcia . . . Talbert Middle School

recognized sixth-graders Michelle King and Beau Nicolette,

seventh-graders Heather Hanson and Cody Steiner, and eighth-graders

Monika Tayag, Ryan Brenes and Kyle Teter at a student recognition program

. . . Jana Stone of Huntington Beach received a bachelor’s degree from

Illinois Central College.
