O.C. Titans to hold tryouts for 2 players

The O.C. Titans, a 10-and-under boys’ baseball team, will prepare for

its new season this weekend.

The team is looking to add two more players to its roster, and will

hold tryouts from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Huntington Valley Little

League.

Prospective players must be available for holiday tournaments, the

first being the Presidents Day Cup on Feb. 16 to 19 in La Mirada.

The O.C. Titans are mostly comprised of all-star players from

Huntington Valley and Seaview Little Leagues.

Op T3 surf contest continues at Pier

The 2001 Op Tag Team Tournament (Op T3) will continue today and Friday

at the south side of the Pier.

The surfing competition, which got underway Wednesday, will include

preliminary heats today, with all 17 teams competing. Eight teams will

advance to Friday’s finals.

Huntington Beach athletes competing include Jeff Deffenbaugh on the

Body Glove team, as well as the entire HSS team, consisting of Danny

Nichols, Jay Larson, Chris Fowler and Jodie Nelson.

Also competing will be World Championship Tour riders CJ and Damien

Hobgood (both on team Rusty), Tim Curran (Op), and Ben Bourgeois (on team

Quicksilver, along with former world champion Kelly Slater).

Today’s first heat will begin at 7 a.m. and competition will continue

until 2:30 p.m.
