Huntington Beach police are looking for a truck full of men who held

up a woman and nearly hit a man on his bike at about 6:25 p.m. Aug. 17.

A 31-year-old Huntington Beach woman was loading her car in the

parking lot at Savers thrift store in the 19100 block of Magnolia Street

when a white Isuzu pickup truck with a white camper shell drove behind

her and stopped, police said. A man approached her and demanded her

purse, police said. He is described as about 18 years old, 5-foot-9 and

145 pounds, with black hair and wearing a white tank top.

Though no weapon was seen, the woman was scared and handed over her

purse, police said.

The driver sped away, with another man in the truck’s cab and three or

four men in the truck bed, police said.

As the car was leaving, the woman yelled that she had been robbed and

pointed to the truck, police reported.

A 39-year-old Huntington Beach man on his bike followed the truck, but

after going ahead of the truck, he put his bike in front of the oncoming

vehicle, hoping the driver would stop, police said.

But the driver didn’t stop, and the man jumped off his bike moments

before it was struck by the truck, police said.

Neither victim was injured. Only the bike was damaged, police

officials said.
